social awareness poem

Diego Ogando      Social awareness poem              12/2/14

An announcement turned on

someone was in the building

I knew I shouldn’t have come to school today

I was scared, afraid, i didn’t know what to do

I hid under my desk and didn’t make a sound.

While i heard some footsteps come around

My teacher made a be quiet jester while touching her index finger to her lips

the steps outside stopped and it was silent

I closed my eyes and held my breath.

The door started to bang and shake as the person outside tried to open it

I looked around at my classmates

A girl next to me had her hand over her mouth trying not to make a noise while she cried

as the banging stopped I didn’t get up

But other kids did.

Just then the man shot the door open with their gun. Kids screamed and yelled

It was hell in here

I stayed laying on the floor as i put my jacket over myself  to stay hidden

The shooting stopped and so did the screaming
I heard the mans footsteps walk out of the room

And as i got up and looked around all i saw was terror

Five kids in my class. dead. I was scared. Sad. I didn’t know what to do.

I just sat there. and cried

and cried

and cried.
